i just feel strongly that work shouldnt be the Main Activity of five days out of the week
it should be one day of the week so that when youre making plans with friends you can say “oh monday is your work day :( oh well there are six other beautiful days of our week we can hang out on! its ok! the birds have flown and the sun is immaculate! im positively shimmering with joy! oh boy! arent we so lucky to not be born into something much worse & soul crushing! i love you! i think i really do love you! and it would be ok if you loved me, i think! do you? do you really? thats magnificent! I’ve never felt happier than with my one Work Day!!! joy!!!!!!”
When I was a kid one of my moms would call her period “moon time” or “her monthlies” or shit like that and my other mom straight up stealthed it, but when I’m a dad I think I’m gonna go straight down the middle and call it Werewolf Week. Like sorry kids, dad can’t roughouse right now, it’s Werewolf Week
“one of my moms”

If you are thinking about it on paper, the bus running every half hour doesn’t sound so bad, until you’re waiting at the stop and you miss a bus or it’s delayed. Then you’re waiting a very, very long time. To people who never take transit, that’s probably fine. Why do you care. To people who only take transit, they’re expecting it, it’s baked in their lives. But the important part, what really impacts our cities, is what happens to people for whom transit is an option.
The spiral goes like this. You go to take the bus instead of driving, thinking “I’m going to o have a couple drinks” or “I don’t want to worry about parking where I’m going.” So you take bus. First bus is right on time. But then you transfer from your neighborhood line to the line that takes you where you actually want to go. And your bus is delayed. And it only comes every 30 minutes. And then you’re waiting, 40 minutes later, wondering where your bus is, knowing you could have driven there in 20 minutes.
Why would you ever chose to take a bus again? The bus made you waste precious time on your day off just sitting there. So next time you drive. Ridership goes down. When the transit authority asks for more money for more buses and more drivers, people point to the ridership numbers and say “why should we pay for this instead of paying for our schools/police/baseball stadium/parks/police again (let’s be real that’s who’s taking all the money)?” If we want to increase ridership we need to actually design and fund functional transit networks. If we want people to actually ride the bus we need to make it a better option than driving, which means reliable service, which you don’t get with a bus every 30 minutes.
Every 15 minutes, everywhere, all of the time.
Imagine how much scarier zombie movies would be if the zombies smiled when they saw you because they were excited to finally eat. Imagine walking into a building to go and find shelter, scavenge, whatever, and you shine your flashlight into a room only to find several zombies idling there. Your light catches their eyes and they turn to look at you, their expressions desolate and empty. However, the moment they spot you, their open mouths turn to wide uncontrollable smiles and their eyes disappear into slits. They almost look friendly. Maybe even some of them manage to laugh instead of groan. How would you feel after months and months of losing people you know to smiling hoards? How would you feel after every encounter with a joyful zombie leaves you shaken and tired and fearful? How would you feel after hearing the sounds of laughter mixed in with the sounds of screaming and flesh being torn? After everything, what would your brain’s wiring process do to you when you see a friend smile? Would you hate smiling? Would you feel rage? Would your brain devolve back into a time where showing one’s teeth always meant a threat? What would you do if the joy of the human race was now only kept by the dead
hey this is fucking horrifying
(Sequel to ‘This memory is being forgotten’)
girl I would kill myself if I did that lol
reading harry potter actively makes you less literate
j why did you censor the name of the scottish play
I think doing that is way funnier than saying the Scottish play, and I’m not going to risk actually saying the name and having something bad happen
i just realized despite me making fun of you for saying m*cbeth, i refused to say it myself. i am fucked up
even I, the op, flinched while writing it in the notes 😔
do y’all only post from inside a theatre?
All the world’s a stage, catgirlforeskin.
Recent Developments Regarding KOSA (February Edition)
Some folks may have been following the recent congressional hearings on internet content and content handling, which involved big names in the industry. Given both the topic and the timing, it comes as no surprise that some of those involved in it have been trying to push the Kids Online Safety Act both in terms of congressional and public support. It’s gone through some superficial changes but the heart of the legislation that makes it a threat to free speech on the internet is the same.
Quick reminder that if it does pass into law, it will allow various states to:
- Block access to / sue the providers of any information on abortion resources
- Block access to / sue the providers of any information on gender affirming care and transition resources
- Censor any talk of what is happening in Palestine / Sudan / other regions threatened by genocide, as well as any protests against such treatment
- Monitor and surveil internet use in general, both in terms of what people say and in what they search for
- Allow state attorneys general the power to arbitrarily criminalize content with no appeals process
- Allow conservative states to get a head start in pushing their Project 2025 agendas
The good news is that this legislation has been pushed back over and over again throughout the whole of 2023, and 2024 is an election year with a LOT of seats up in the air, meaning that the danger of losing voter support carries much more weight than it normally does. In other words, we pushed this back before and we can do it again. You can find the contact information for the senators from your state at the official Senate website, and given the timing of the hearings any such calls / messages / letters should have a somewhat greater impact than they otherwise might.
Remember to be polite and respectful, and to phrase your concerns in such a way that it aligns with the politics of the senator you are calling; conservatives WANT to restrict access to stuff like abortion services and HRT, so you have to scare them with something else, like gun control. Be sure to do your research on who and what has bought your senator and tailor your complaints accordingly for maximum impact. For most democratic senators, the abortion rights issue might be enough on its own, since they’ve been watching the GOP step on that rake every election since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade and they want that to work for them, not against them.

This is what I tried to explain to US platforms like Patreon when they suspended my account for having a nude statue as the background image: I live in Europe, I can go and see a nude statue within a 5 minutes walk. Children can see them, they’re not in some 18+ container. I will never understand those policies.
